We believe that we play an important role in helping players reach the next stage of their baseball careers. Whether their goals include playing for high school teams, advancing to different teams/leagues or showcasing their skills for college scouts - we find players who love the game, are willing to invest in the time and effort it takes to improve, and we heat them up. Most importantly, we recognize that we are responsible for the development and improvement of every single player on our roster. No player is extra or overlooked. We are committed to the growth and development of every Heat player, each with their own individual development plan.
We prepare our athletes for a future in competitive sport by embracing competition. That means the players always know that the work they do in the off-season, their pre-game preparation and their in-game performance all contribute towards helping the team win ball games and tournaments, a key motivation that brings out the best in high-level athletes.
We believe that the families who invest in our organization and trust the development of their athlete to us deserve detailed information about the program. We share our practice plans, player progress reports, strategic decisions, budgets and financial summaries with our families and are always available to answer questions so families can see that they’ve made a great choice.
We do not want to see words like “teamwork”, “respect”, “integrity”, “work ethic” and “inclusion” become token keywords that get tossed around as opposed to core values to live by on and off the field. In addition to discussing and reinforcing these themes with our players, we take the most important step of ensuring that our coaches are always modelling these values in all of their interactions with players, umpires, parents, other coaches and opponents. We recognize that sport coaches can be essential role models for developing youth.
In the 2022 season, North Halton Heat players will be 13 – 14 years’ old. We recognize the vital role at this age that strength and conditioning plays in achieving high level performance, and in injury prevention. We individualize our strength and conditioning regimens for each player, and select exercises with baseball’s sport-specific strength demands in mind.
One of the great prides in coaching is watching your players go onto amazing things in their lives, careers and baseball. Our coaches work with our players to set short and long-term goals and to establish plans for achieving them. This may involve progression to schools and programs that are not our own, and some fascinating discussions about grade point average and school work. In all things, what's best for the individual player is given priority.
